econo-poetry Public sector cuts

Important to stress that I’m not representing in any way, these are just some thoughts I’ve had, and I don’t see how we owe this money, but even if we did...Is it really all that difficult to raise a thousand billion quid?

Don’t sell arms, on credit, to those that can’t repay their debts,
Ensure banks operate reliably, not making stupid bets.
Spend money teaching children, not making teachers jump through hoops.
Aim armed forces spending toward happier front line troops.

Do all that can be done to stop big business dodging taxes
And if there are any pointless laws, (or unwinnable wars), Then sharpen your axes
Pass a law which deems schools, get software they want for free.
In fact install free Microsoft on any Government PC.

Don’t hire cost-cutting focus groups as part of a redundancy facade
When those who know where waste is are already on your staff.
Make sure we can all work assured our loved ones get good care
And that the poorest quintiles get a slice of wealth thats fair.
This would not just create income but also keep it going round
cause at the poorer end the more one spends of every extra pound

On that note, give back the billions, our bankers stole from us in fees
Hire, caring staff, directly, not through employment agencies
Start improving the basic skills we’ll need when our country starts to grow
And don’t turn away ANY human being her economy wants to know
And while I do admire – the way you measure benefit and cost
I fear that somewhere in your analysis, your soul is getting lost.
When you’re measuring critical treatment, or welfare, of another human being,
Most effective, and most cost effective, are the same very thing.

Alternatives to cruel policy when it’s said there could be none
A transparent, and bland assertion on which no war will be won
And the coalition has no power, we need to call their bluff
We need to find our voice and say no public sector cuts

These debts are nothing more than a web of poorly spun pretences
And we cannot condone condom cuts, not when we know the consequences.
Any not-for-profit resources, serving innumerable social roles
All those stations in our nations that help build cultures, links and souls
Watch them scab, rot and drop, just like diseased extremities,
With unwanted greedy love children running once-sound utilities
Sold with smug expressions, of scrooge like-satisfaction
By those who know any future profits'll will stem from base service retraction

Its crooked money lenders got the country in this mess
We want the next generation to have more services not less
I’m not describing utopia, this isn’t science fiction stuff
We need to find our voice and say no public sector cuts
Its time to let, the powers that be, know enough is enough
No cuts, no cuts, no public sector cuts!
